Since becoming a hairdresser I’ve always considered getting a certificate to be a counselor, therapist, or coach, as being a hairdresser I have always been a “therapist” for my clients. Since I was young I wanted to be a hairdresser for the client relationships. I loved going to my hairdresser and loved the friendship/relationship that I built with her and how amazing I always felt about myself after. I wanted to be that person for my clients and create those connections with everyone who sat in my chair. Throughout my 15+ years of hairdressing, I have come to realize that for most clients it is more about the amazing hair style I give them and less about the connection. So after many years, I decided to study holistic wellness coaching to bridge the gap in my career between amazing hair and being able to fully support clients in their lives.
After going through a breakup from a long term relationship, being in a different stage of my life than all of my close friends, and living on the other side of the world from my family, I felt soo lost. This low point in my life really brought me to the realization that I was “stuck”. I didn’t know what I liked, I didn’t have hobbies, I was unhappy and didn’t know what made me happy. Everyday was a hard reminder that I was on the other side of the world from my support system and because of covid I couldn’t even go home. So I embarked on a journey of self discovery. I tried new things and all kinds of different hobbies. Some things being; pottery classes, sailing lessons, yoga retreats, surfing, stand up paddle boarding, meditation, sister circles, buying a camper van, etc. etc. I was willing to try anything that could possibly make me happy. It was difficult putting myself in new situations and being vulnerable all the time but being as unhappy as I was, was not an option. During my self discovery journey, I often felt quite sad and over whelmed. Trying new things and constantly putting yourself out there takes so much effort and sometimes a self-pity party seemed so much easier. One day though, there was a moment in time where all of the sudden I realized I was feeling better about myself and I might even have had glimpses of happiness. Then, everyday following that, I chased that glimpse of happiness until one day I felt like I finally made it to the top of the mountain and the sun was shining on me!
“Afterglow” is the glow remaining after a light has disappeared. I am sunset obsessed and sometimes the best part of a sunset is the beauty that dances across the sky after the sun has sunk below the horizon. In life there are times that the best things can be the beauty that comes from the setting or ending of one’s experience. Even when the light in our lives has disappeared, there’s a little glow deep within us that we can search for, find and hold onto. The afterglow you get from the self reflection of where those experiences have led or taken you once they have finally set and the excitement of the colors that can now shine in your life.
My goal is to help you climb mountains and reach the top of your happiness journey so you too can bask in the sunshine. I believe life wasn’t meant to be mediocre, so we need to chase the things that make our hearts smile, the things that give us warm and fuzzy feelings and appreciate the afterglow of everyday. The beauty of it all is that no matter what, everyday the sun rises and sets which gives us another opportunity to chase the sun and experience the afterglow again and again, day after day, year after year.

What is a Holistic wellness coach?
A Wellness Coach supports clients on their journey to health and wellness and helps clients to identify and achieve their goals. This is done through on-going support and motivation and by being a source of encouragement and accountability. Using deep listening and incisive questioning, eliciting a client’s inner strengths and resources, goal setting, and unconditional positive regard. The main focus with coaching is taking effective action through cooperative consultation and exchange.
